Interesting case came out of the Insurors of Tennessee newsletter last week. We have a feeling insurance companies will be jumping all over Workers Compensation audits after the Tennessee Supreme court declined to hear a case about insurance companies collecting Work Comp premium on payroll for Non-Employees.
Not good news for many companies who hire independent contractors. The only thing we recommend at this time is that your independent contractors provides you with a certificate of workers compensation insurance. This certificate is evidence that coverage exists at the time the certificate is issued.
